Overview: Our mission is to promote healthy aging by keeping older adults well, active and independent for as long as possible. Patients 65 years and older have unique medical needs, and the staff at our Senior Clinic not only recognizes those needs, but are focused on proactively protecting and preserving quality of life for our region’s older patients. Just as pediatricians specialize in the care of children, geriatricians are physicians who specialize in the care of older adults. Our physicians have specific training in geriatrics.

Our Senior Clinic is easily accessed by convenient first floor location inside Carondelet Medical Building A.

We provide primary care consultations or wellness screenings in a variety of areas. Additionally, we can coordinate treatment with your primary care physician as well. We are currently accepting new Medicare eligible patients 65 or older. Patients younger than 65 may qualify based on condition. No physician referral is required.

Alicia Shuker, MSN, APRN, FNP-C

Alicia joins our team at St Joseph Medical Center as the Nurse Practitioner for Sister Margaret's Senior Clinic. She will focus on ensuring the medical needs of our senior population are met with expert care and top notch customer service, such as extended appointment times, medication & nutritional counseling when needed, as well as any urgent needs that can arise with older adults. With her support, the Senior Clinic will expand their services to be able to offer ‘Same Day Senior Care.’

She attended Graceland University where she earned a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing as well as a Master's of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner Degree. She is certified through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. Alicia comes to us with experience in providing clinical support to other health systems in the Kansas City metropolitan area. Additionally, she has extensive experience in the urgent care setting.

With the support of her husband, Eric, Alicia was able to devote many years to raising her three children at home. Her daughter, Alexis, is 22, son, Logan, is 19, and son, Dylan, is 16. Alexis recently enrolled in nursing school so she could follow in her mom’s footsteps. When she’s not helping Alexis plan her upcoming nuptials, supporting Logan who now attends college, or cheering on Dylan at his soccer games, she enjoys relaxing by the pool with a good book!
