St. Joseph Medical Center Announces New General Surgeon, Dr. Clint Gates and Offers Free Hernia Screenings

St. Joseph Medical Center is pleased to welcome general surgeon, Clint Gates, M.D. to the St. Joseph’s Medical Center healthcare team. Dr. Gates is proficient in robotic, laparoscopic, and open surgical approaches with special interest in gastrointestinal surgery, endocrine surgery, ventral and hiatal hernia repairs, skin and soft tissue disease, anorectal surgery, and dialysis access. A native of Kiowa, Kansas, Dr. Gates graduated from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 2014 and completed general surgery residency at the University of Kansas-Wichita.

To introduce Dr. Gates to the community, St. Joseph’s Medical Center will offer FREE hernia screenings on Wednesday and Friday mornings in August from 8-10 a.m. at the hospital’s Multispecialty Suite, 201, Bldg. C-East, 1000 Carondelet Drive in Kansas City. Walk-ins are welcome with no appointment necessary.

Every year, an estimated 1.6 million groin hernias are diagnosed in the U.S., affecting more than 25 percent of men and 3 percent of women in their lifetimes, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
