Kansas City, Mo. – Families pass on many traditions through the years, but kidney
and heart disease shouldn’t be one of them. When a family member
suffers from kidney or heart disease, other family members may be at an
increased risk for developing the diseases, too.
St. Joseph Medical Center invites the community to attend a free seminar
on steps people can take to prevent these diseases on Wednesday, January
26, at the Benson Convention Center, Cummings Room, 1008 E Sedalia Avenue,
Clinton, MO 64735.
Free kidney health risks will be provided during the seminar. Free kidney
health risk assessments will begin at 5 p.m., followed by presentations
from Walter L. Bender, MD, and Eric S. Hockstad, MD, FACC, at 5:30 p.m.
Additional kidney health risk assessments will be available after the
presentations at 6:30 p.m.
Dr. Bender earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Biology and his
medical degree at The Johns Hopkins University. He completed his internship,
residency and fellowship in nephrology at The Johns Hopkins University as well.
Dr. Hockstad completed his undergraduate and medical school education at
the University of Michigan. His post-graduate education was completed
at the University of Minnesota Hospitals and Clinic. He is a founding
member of the Kansas City Heart Foundation, and today remains involved
as president of the organization’s executive committee.
Seating is limited for this free event; call 816-943-2584 to reserve your seat.
