Women's Health Institute/Breast Center/WELL
Women Embracing and Loving Life
Because breast cancer affects a woman both physically and emotionally, The Breast Center at St. Joseph Medical Center offers a healthy lifestyle program facilitated by a registered dietician for women diagnosed with breast cancer. The program is called WELL (Women Embracing and Loving Life).
This free eight-week program provides support and encouragement for breast cancer survivors to become more engaged in a healthier lifestyle with support from fellow survivors.
The goal-based class includes nutrition education, cardiovascular and strength training, along with group support. Participants receive food diaries and activity trackers for self reporting.
The WELL program was recognized at a National Consortium of Breast Centers meeting in March 2011.
