TB Skin Test
Skin testing for tuberculosis (TB) is provided to prevent infectious TB from being spread throughout Carondelet Health facilities.
All associates and volunteers are required to have TB skin tests before starting service at the medical center. The test is given free of charge. A two-step skin test is required if you have not had a TB skin test in the past year. Thereafter an assessment form will need to be completed on an annual basis.
A skin test will be placed on your forearm and the site must be checked by an Employee Health nurse or one of the Emergency Department clinical staff within 48 to 72 hours after it is given.
If you have not had a test in the past year, you will need to participate in the two-step process and return two to three weeks later to repeat the process.
Volunteers with a positive TB test are required to have a chest X-ray and physician clearance before volunteering.
You will receive the annual TB assessment form in the mail based on your birthday. Please return the form within 30 days from receipt in order to continue your volunteer service uninterrupted.
