St. Joseph Medical Center is a 310-bed facility providing a wide range of acute care and outpatient services from a 24-hour emergency department to state-of-the-art cardiovascular care. St. Joseph has earned the Magnet designation from The American Nurses Credentialing Center for excellence in nursing services. The accredited Stroke Center at St. Joseph provides advanced treatments available at few centers in the Kansas City area and the Breast Center is a nationally recognized leader in breast MRI biopsy. The accredited Chest Pain Center at St. Joseph utilizes the industry’s best practices in cardiac care services to ensure patients get the treatment they need during the critical early stages of a heart attack.
The Medical Mall at St. Joseph Medical Center is home to a variety of outpatient services in one convenient location. Here, our patients access outpatient surgery, birthing center, rehabilitation therapy, pulmonary care, imaging, mammography, ultrasound services, pain management, and the Seniors Clinic. The mall also houses physician offices, the Community Center for Health and Education and health- related support services including a gift shop, food court, retail pharmacy and a bank. Long-term skilled nursing care is available nearby St. Joseph’s at Carondelet Manor and Villa Saint Joseph.
The Carondelet Heart Institute (CHI) is a "hospital within a hospital" at St. Joseph Medical Center, focusing on cardiovascular services. Addressing the personal and spiritual needs of each individual, CHI offers diagnostics, cardiovascular interventions, open-heart surgery, cardiac rehabilitation, and a chest pain clinic as well as a personal heart advocate for each patient.
