Meet our Pulmonary Medicine Physicians

Tariq Musa

Tariq Musa, MD

Pulmonary Medicine

Dr Musa a pulmonologist with more than 13 years of medical experience. Dr. Musa is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Diseases and Critical Care Medicine. He treats a variety of lung-related illnesses, including asthma, COPD, pulmonary emphysema, bronchitis, interstitial lung disease, bronchiectasis, lung nodules, pleural effusion and obstructive sleep apnea.

Dr. Musa has a special interest in lung cancer screening. He performs EBUS and navigation bronchoscopy to diagnose lung cancer at early stages. He also has special interest in placement of endobronchial valves to help pulmonary emphysema patients who remain symptomatic despite inhalers and pulmonary rehabilitation.

In addition, Dr. Musa will work as a critical care physician caring for critically ill patients admitted to the hospital’s ICU. He is accepting new patients at the clinic.

Timothy W. Smith, MD

Pulmonary Medicine

Dr. Timothy Smith is board certified in Pulmonary Medicine and Internal Medicine. His currently the director of the Respiratory department at St. Joseph Medical Center. Dr. Smith attended medical school at the University of Kansas School of Medicine and completed his residency at KUMC. He did his fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Smith is active in his Catholic faith and interests include spending time with family, tennis, KU basketball, Chiefs and involvement with World Health Organization and Artists Helping the Homeless.

Samara,Dafer

Dafer Mahmoud Samara, MD

Pulmonary Medicine

Dr. Dafer Samara is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Disease, Critical Care Medicine and Sleep Medicine. He is a member of the American College of Chest Physicians and is an active member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. He completed a residency in Internal Medicine at University of Tennessee Health Science Center, then fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Dr. Samara also completed a fellowship in Sleep Medicine at University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. Dr. Samara treats different aspects of pulmonary diseases with special Interest in sleep related breathing disorders. He enjoys watching movies, traveling and spending time with his family. Dr. Samara is accepting new patients at the clinic.
