Dorsey Named Carondelet Health Interim CEO

Michael Dorsey has accepted the position of Interim Chief Executive Officer for  Carondelet Health. Dorsey has served as Chief Operating Officer of Carondelet Health and Chief Executive Officer of St. Joseph Medical Center for nearly five years. His new responsibilities add oversight of St. Mary’s Medical Center in Blue Springs, Mo. He succeeds Fleury Yelvington who resigned last month.
 
Dorsey has more than 30 years of senior-level health care experience, and in addition to his role as Carondelet Health CEO, will continue to oversee the day-to-day operations of St. Joseph.
 
“Mike has already proven to be dedicated to our healing mission and a strong leader,” says Bonnie Phipps, Ministry Market Leader for Ascension Health. “Mike has experience as Chief Executive Officer of two hospitals within one system prior to coming to Carondelet Health that shows his ability to build a strong cooperative system.”
 
“I’m looking forward to this new chapter in the history of Carondelet Health,” says Dorsey. “The Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet started this mission of healing more than 135 years ago and I feel privileged to carry on their tradition.”
 
Dorsey is a Fellow with the American College of Health Care Executives. He earned his Master of Business Administration and Bachelor’s degrees in Medical Technology from Wichita State University.
